Autoocupació aims to integrate 33% of young people participating in the Tour Is Me program into the workforce.

January 25, 2019

  • The program specialized in tourism and leisure will offer young people 400 hours of training, 100 hours of internships in sector companies, and a personalized guidance service with the aim of successfully developing their professional skills.
  • The program is aimed at individuals aged 16 to 29 registered with the Youth Guarantee and is framed within the Singular Projects of the Youth Guarantee.
Autoocupació will launch the Tour Is Me: Job Creation in the Tourism and Leisure Sectors program next February in its Barcelona, Tarragona, and Girona offices, with the goal of promoting employment in the tourism and leisure sector for the 60 young people expected to participate in the program. Specifically, Autoocupació aims for at least 33% of participating young people to enter the workforce through job searching or self-employment. Tour Is Me will offer 400 hours of training and 100 hours of internships in companies where young people can acquire and develop the technical skills specific to jobs in the tourism and leisure sector, one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy that constantly changes based on new consumption patterns, new lifestyles, and means of access to the sale of tourism and leisure products. In this regard, tailored training focused on customer relationship management in tourism and leisure companies will be developed to promote the training and professionalization of services and occupations linked to customer relationship management. Additionally, young people will have the opportunity to access a job search space and personalized support throughout the job placement process. Likewise, participants with an entrepreneurial vocation will receive specialized guidance and information during their self-employment journey: Business model design, analysis and evaluation of the business project, and information on resources for entrepreneurship. The Tour Is Me program, led by Autoocupació, is supported by the Public Employment Service of Catalonia, the Government of Catalonia, the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Social Security, and the European Social Fund. In addition, it will feature the participation of various companies and associations such as Airbnb, the Hesperia NH Resorts chain, the Tourism Offices of Barcelona, Girona, and Tarragona Science and Technology Park of Tourism and Leisure of Catalonia, among others, which will allow participants to gain first-hand knowledge of the business fabric and associative network through visits and volunteer activities.
