Autoocupació’s SOS Mentoring program has been awarded the second prize of the 28th edition of the Volunteer Awards, promoted by the Directorate General for Civic and Community Action of the Department of Social Rights of the Government of Catalonia.
SOS Mentoring is a volunteer program designed to help entrepreneurs cope with the situation arising from the health emergency caused by COVID-19. The program consists of a personalized support process aimed at diagnosing the situation, evaluating alternative courses of action, making the best decisions, and implementing them.

Upon receiving the award, Guillem Arís, director of Autoocupació, expressed gratitude for “the effort of the 724 business owners who have shared their time and experience as volunteers within the SOS Mentoring program to help save more than a thousand businesses and over 3,600 jobs in the sectors most affected by the pandemic.”
Arís also highlighted the support of public and private institutions “that have trusted Autoocupació’s mentoring as a tool for social transformation to help entrepreneurs grow professionally and expand their businesses.”
The Volunteer Awards, established in 1993, represent social and institutional recognition of volunteering, as well as of the entities whose work contributes to creating a more just and supportive society. The award ceremony was led by President Pere Aragonès and the Minister of Social Rights, Violant Cervera.
