€4,000 grants for first-year expenses for the self-employed

A new grant of up to €4,000 is being launched to alleviate the burden of expenses that self-employed individuals must take on during their first years of activity. The grant aims to boost entrepreneurship in the city of Barcelona and also seeks to help new businesses establish themselves in the market more easily.

Beneficiaries and requirements

This grant can be applied for by all individuals registered as residents in the city of Barcelona who have started a new economic activity as self-employed workers or as new members of worker cooperatives. These individuals must meet the following requirements:
  • Having started a new economic activity as of September 6, 2022
  • Having tax registration in the city of Barcelona as a sole trader
  • Residency registration in the city of Barcelona for at least three months prior to tax registration
  • Not having been registered with the RETA for the same activity in the year prior to the registration date
  • Being up to date with tax obligations

Which expenses are eligible for the grant?

  • Social Security
  • Taxes
  • Management and consultancy fees
  • Premises rental
  • Coworking space rental
  • Utility bills
