Last week in Brussels, EBAN held a new edition of the EAIS, European Angel Investment Summit. Within the framework of this international meeting, the entity’s general assembly was held, along with the renewal of its Board of Directors for the next two years.

Albert Colomer, president of Autoocupació and vice-president of the Catalan Business Angels network, BANC, has been re-elected as a member of the EBAN Board. He has been part of the entity’s leadership since 2003, making him the longest-serving member of the governing body.

Janne Jormalainen, president of the Finnish Business Angels Network, has been re-elected as president, alongside Selma Prodanovic, Vice-president of the Austrian Angel Investors Association, and Jesper Jarlbæk, Vice-president of the Danish Venture Capital Association, as Vice-president and Treasurer respectively. Furthermore, the new board is composed of 19 additional members, representing entities from the investment ecosystem of various European countries.

EBAN is the pan-European representative of the early-stage investor community. Established in 1999, this network brings together more than 100 organizations from over 50 countries and represents a sector that plays a fundamental role in European economic growth through the creation of wealth and jobs.

At this year’s edition of the EAIS, data on investments made in Europe during 2021 were presented. It is worth noting the strong growth compared to the previous year, reaching a record figure of 1,456 million euros invested (+90% from the previous year). In 2021, investors participated in more than 5,070 financing rounds. Currently, there are approximately 39,400 active private investors in Europe who are part of a local investment network or association.
