Enginy: a specialized entrepreneurship program for theme parks

  • The Diputació de Tarragona has launched the Enginy program in collaboration with Autoocupació, the Science and Technology Park for Tourism, and PortAventura World.

Friday, July 6, 2018. The Diputació de Tarragona presented the Enginy project this Friday morning, a specialized entrepreneurship training program for theme parks promoted by the Diputació de Tarragona, Autoocupació, the Science and Technology Park for Tourism and the collaboration of PortAventura World. The program aims to promote entrepreneurship and the creation of new businesses in the territory within the leisure and services sector of theme parks. During the presentation ceremony held at the Palau de la Diputació de Tarragona, the 15 entrepreneurs who will be part of the project were introduced; they will receive 150 hours of training and specialized mentoring to develop their business projects at the PortAventura theme park. In this regard, PortAventura World, together with other professionals in the sector, will provide participants with a total of 70 hours of mentoring and the opportunity to visit and experience the theme park facilities firsthand, where the 15 entrepreneurs will have the chance to test their proposals. The presentation ceremony was attended by Joan Josep Malràs, Delegate Deputy for Human Resources, Employment, and Entrepreneurship of the Diputació de Tarragona, Albert Colomer, President of Autoocupació, Jordi Calabuig, Head of the Tourism Innovation and Intelligence Laboratory of the PCT, Choni Fernández, Director of Central Services at PortAventura World, Pere Condom, Director of the Catalunya Emprèn program of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Marta Farrero, Technical Director of the Tourism Board of the Diputació de Tarragona. Àlex Grau, Head of the Human Resources, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Area of the Diputació de Tarragona, was in charge of leading the round table “Business opportunities around theme parks, the economic impact of PortAventura World in the Tarragona region, and the future challenges of the tourism sector in general, and specifically the future linked to theme parks.” Through its participation in the Enginy program, Autoocupació aims to promote entrepreneurship as a valid career path and drive the creation of new businesses by helping individuals develop their professional vocations.
