Ready 4 Work: Mentoring for Vulnerable Youth

January 23, 2025

Autoocupació launches a new voluntary mentoring program to help vulnerable youth choose and start their professional path. Ready 4 Work is a social innovation project based on Autoocupació’s mentoring methodology that has helped hundreds of young entrepreneurs develop the necessary skills to consolidate and grow their newly created businesses, thanks to the support of business owners and executives who share their time and experience with them as volunteers. The project’s objective is to adapt Autoocupació’s voluntary mentoring methodology to the needs of vulnerable youth, to help them develop the necessary skills to define their professional goals and implement appropriate strategies to achieve them, thereby improving their qualifications and employability and fostering their integration into the labor market. Ready 4 Work is funded by the Social Innovation Initiative of the European Social Fund + within the framework of the Social Innovations for Upskilling of Vulnerable Youth call. This is a collective project, with a duration of 2 years, led by Autoocupació, which provides the methodology on which the social innovation is based and will implement a pilot experience in Catalonia, and which involves the participation of different institutions:
  • Barcelona Activa, which will facilitate the participation of its service users in the project and will monitor the pilot experience in Catalonia with the aim of studying the incorporation of this new methodology into its actions.
  • ANKA, the economic development agency of Karditsa (Thessaly), which will implement the pilot experience in this rural region of Greece.
  • The European Microfinance Network, which will evaluate the impact of this social innovation and disseminate the results at a European level, promoting its implementation in other countries.
