Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Pedralbes Palace hosted this evening the event organized by the Centre de Reempresa de Catalunya due to the successful results of the program in promoting businesses and entrepreneurial initiative, in safeguarding the country’s business fabric, and in fighting unemployment. Over its seven-year trajectory, Reempresa has ensured the continuity of 1,770 businesses in Catalonia, generating an induced investment of over 80 million euros and safeguarding more than 5,100 jobs. Antoni Abad, president of the Cecot Employers’ Association and the Centre de Reempresa de Catalunya, stated that these results “are the fruit of a collective success, public-private cooperation, and a network of technicians, professionals, organizations, and institutions that have understood this to be a valuable instrument for maintaining and boosting business activity in the territories.” The event was presided over by the Vice President and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, who stated that “the existence of a service like Reempresa is very important for maintaining the cohesion of the business fabric and the continuity of businesses. Ensuring that companies do not close is crucial.” Also attending the event were the Minister of Business and Knowledge, M. Àngels Chacón, the president of the Cecot Employers’ Association and the Centre de Reempresa de Catalunya, Antoni Abad, and the president of the Autoocupació Foundation and director of Reempresa, Albert Colomer. During the event, various sellers and re-entrepreneurs shared their experiences with the program: Sidemsa (Rubí), dedicated to the commercialization and manufacturing of handling and lifting machinery and equipment; Cafès i xocolates Eulàlia (Molins de Rei), a market stall selling select food products, bulk coffees, teas, chocolates, and snacks; Pedro Esports (el Prat de Llobregat), a highly emblematic sports clothing store in the town; Winfor (Barcelona), dedicated to IT solutions for software development, systems management, and consulting, through which the re-entrepreneur achieved growth by acquiring companies via Reempresa; Conex Center (Terrassa), dedicated to the retail sale of computer products and office supplies. Albert Colomer, president of Autoocupació and director of the Centre de Reempresa de Catalunya, reiterated the positive impact Reempresa has had on fostering business and entrepreneurship in Catalonia and the importance of consolidating businesses and helping them gain scale and strengthen. He therefore stated that “from now on, Reempresa will work not only to maintain the current pace of buying and selling operations but also to provide re-entrepreneurs with the necessary resources to help them grow and consolidate.”
