Yolanda Tarango, a mentor in Autoocupació’s mentoring program, has been awarded the
2nd Prize Mentor of the Year by
Youth Business International during the
Global Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2019. The nomination was submitted by
Autoocupació on behalf of
Youth Business Spain.
Tarango, a volunteer mentor for
Autoocupació‘s
mentoring program since 2013, has been recognized in the
Mentor Recognition Awards category. This category aims to acknowledge the work of mentors within the
Youth Business International network who have supported
young entrepreneurs and altruistically dedicated their time to guide them in the growth of their businesses and the development of their skills.

In this regard,
the Director of Autoocupació, Guillem Arís, highlighted that “Yolanda is a mentor with a great impact on the mentored entrepreneurs and their businesses, offering them appropriate support, empowering them, and encouraging them to set and achieve their own goals.” Similarly, Arís emphasized Yolanda’s role as an expert entrepreneur, who, in her capacity as a mentor, has offered young people the same support she received at the beginning of her own business.
Since 2013, Tarango has supported
5 entrepreneurs, offered
training to young entrepreneurs, and participated in
workshops, conferences, and networking activities, fostering the continuous improvement of Autoocupació’s
mentoring program. Since 2017, she has been part of the foundation’s board of trustees.
About mentoring at Autoocupació
Since 2013, more than 450 young entrepreneurs have been supported by over 300 volunteer businesspeople in Catalonia thanks to Autoocupació’s
mentoring program, a personalized support methodology through which businesspeople and professionals share their experience, for one year and as volunteers, with the aim of helping entrepreneurs develop their skills to consolidate and grow their businesses.
The program receives support from the
Youth Business Spain network, a member of
Youth Business International, a network that currently has
more than 14,000 volunteer mentors in 48 countries.
