Grants of up to €3000 for self-employed individuals for first-year expenses

Barcelona City Council will offer new financial aid, with a budget of €1M, to self-employed individuals who have started an economic activity from March 14, 2020, the date of the declaration of the state of alarm due to the pandemic. Each self-employed individual may apply, through this subsidy, for a maximum of €3,000 to cover the expenses of their first year of activity.  

Main Requirements

All individuals registered in the city of Barcelona who have started a new economic activity as:
  • Self-employed workers (individual entrepreneurs) or new members of associated work cooperatives.
  • Having started a new economic activity from March 14, 2020.
  • Tax registration in the city of Barcelona as individual entrepreneurs.
  • Registration in the city of Barcelona since before tax registration.
  • Being unemployed before the start of the activity.
  • Not having been registered with RETA for the same activity in the year prior to the registration date.
  • Being up to date with tax obligations.
 

Eligible Actions and Expenses

  • Social Security contributions.
  • Taxes related to the start of economic activity and initial establishment.
  • Management and advisory expenses.
  • Rent for premises or offices fiscally allocated to the activity.
  • Rent for co-working spaces and/or services provided by these establishments in relation to professional activity.
  • Expenses derived from energy consumption (electricity, gas, and fuels) up to a maximum of €500.
