New grants for the catering sector

The Government is launching a new grant scheme, with a budget of 40 million euros for catering activities economically affected by COVID-19. The measure aims to contribute to the competitiveness of companies and the maintenance of businesses in the face of the decrease in turnover caused by the latest restrictions decreed to alleviate the effects of the pandemic.

Beneficiaries:

Self-employed professionals and companies providing catering activities, registered in the census of the economic activities tax. For the purposes of these rules, companies providing catering activities are understood to be bars, restaurants, and cafes, including those that operate within a collective establishment such as shopping centers or municipal markets. Companies that are more than 50% publicly owned and foundations are excluded as beneficiaries of these grants.

Grant amount:

The grant awarded is a maximum amount and will consist of a single payment per beneficiary. The grants will range from 1,000 to 15,000 euros, depending on the number of employees:
  • 1,000 euros for the self-employed and micro-enterprises (up to 9 employees)
  • 5,000 euros for small businesses (from 10 to 49 employees)
  • 15,000 euros for companies with 50 or more employees.

Application procedure:

Applications must be submitted using the standardized form available to interested parties at the corporate headquarters of Canal Empresa of the Government of Catalonia, on the website of the Consortium for Trade, Crafts and Fashion of Catalonia or on the website of the Department of Business and Labour.
